Over a month ago I had the honor of being named the
recipient of the 1st Annual Liberty Internet
Award, for which I am well and truly grateful.
I’m announcing it now because it’s taken this long
to overcome embarrassment and innate Midwestern shyness.
Sheesh.
“Daniel Hopsicker, author of 'Welcome to Terrorland'
and 'Barry and the Boys' has been awarded the Liberty
Internet Award for 2007,” read the press release
from Douglas Herman.
I’m well aware that there’s a contradiction here…
That for someone who shuns the spotlight I’ve sure
picked a curious career… That being an investigative
journalist and poking a rake into the huge pile of
leaves labeled “Taboo” in America is not for
the fainthearted, or the squeamish.
"Hopsicker has a lot of cojones,” Herman
stated. “He lives in south Florida and tries to do
what the highly paid reporters who work for the huge
dailies--should be doing but don’t."
Still, I’m mildly uncomfortable calling attention
to myself, and prefer the focus be on the amazing
stories we’ve uncovered, and the evidence we continue
to unearth about the current state of our massively
corrupt Republic.
America's Secret History Doesn't Have
To Be
The
truth, like virtue, is its own reward.
It’s addictive. Its better than any drug. The first
time I discovered something truly amazing that had
been completely overlooked, or censored, by more cautious
investigators, I was hooked.
Four bestsellers, for example, had already been written
about the man who the Wall Street Journal called “the
ghost haunting Whitewater,” drug smuggler
Barry Seal, by the time I arrived in Louisiana to
write “Barry & ‘the boys.’”
But I’m justly proud to have been the person who unearthed
evidence which revealed that Barry Seal was a life-long
CIA pilot who was already famous, in some circles,
well before he ever flew the first load of cocaine
into Mena Arkansas to inaugurate the operation for
which he will be forever known.
I unearthed the picture, or rather, grasped its significance,
that proved that 16-year old Seal was recruited into
the CIA along with fellow cadet Lee Harvey Oswald
by CIA pilot and pedophile David Ferrie at a 2-week
summer camp of the Louisiana Civil Air Patrol at Barksdale
Air Force Base in the summer of 1955.
So I won’t plead false modesty. When the Sarasota
Herald Tribune goes to great lengths to discredit
the revelations in “Welcome to TERRORLAND,”
I can tell I’m doing work that will stand the test
of time.
Stupidity:
no threat to the ruling elite

One of the biggest discoveries we made while researching
the book, for example, was that several of terrorist
ringleader Mohamed Atta’s closest associates while
he was in Venice and Southwest Florida weren’t Arabs,
but German or Swiss.
When the Associated Press reported last Fall that
the FBI had issued a terror alert in the South Pacific
for one of these men, Wolfgang Bohringer, a German
pilot with whom Atta was “inseparable” during Bohringer’s
frequent visits to Southwest Florida, it was sweet
revenge.
It was probably too much to hope that the hacks at
the Sarasota Herald Tribune would have
the good grace to issue a retraction.
Maybe if and when newspapers in America once again
begin to do what newspapers are supposed
to do--report what happens every day—things will change.
As you can probably tell, none of this comes easy,
or cheap. The game is pretty simple. Railing about
the New World Order, or explosives at the World Trade
Center, will get you on Fox News by sundown.
What's Wolfgang Bohringer doing in
Belgrade?
But
unearthing startling evidence about Mohamed Atta’s closest
associates in Venice Florida, the biggest Sept 11 crime
scene that wasn’t reduced to rubble, gets you nothing
but a cold shoulder.
Except from you. We want to thank you for your support,
which was instrumental in allowing us to get an extensive
deposition from the German pilot who recently sued
us for libel.
We’ve now settled that suit, and
apologized to the person involved for stating he
knew and was an associate of Mohamed Atta. In the deposition
we learned we had been in error.
But we did learn some crucial new facts about the
subject of that terror alert in the South Pacific: the
German pilot who was an associate of
Mohamed Atta... Wolfgang Bohringer.
Someday the name Wolfgang Bohringer, who’s rumored
to be in Yugoslavia currently, will be as well-known
in the story of the September 11th attack
as David Ferrie is in that of the JFK assassination.
The Real Deal

We have only one lawsuit pending; its another an opportunity
to learn more about America’s secret history. Its
already yielded crucial new information which we will
be reporting soon.
We have also just printed paperback editions of “Barry
& the boys and Welcome to Terrorland, with several
new chapters in each.
I need your help to continue the investigation,
and to publicize its findings. Increasingly, I realize
I need the active support of people who want to the
same things I do: answers to questions about America’s
Secret History.
History has proven Jim Garrison right. It will also
someday show the importance of our seemingly-quixotic
quest in Venice, Florida to bring to account people
like Wally Hilliard, Rudi Dekkers and Wolfgang Bohringer.
Our goal is to eventually be instrumental in forcing
them to provide testimony, under oath, before the
American people, about the intrigue that was swirling
while terrorists roamed Florida as freely
as if they’d been listening to Tom Petty albums all
their lives.
